So my life is coming full circle! After first figuring out what type of work would suit a retired police sergeant (Who happens to be 6 months post op transgender…👱🏻♀️) I got the “magic phone call” and a job offer!!! *YAY!*
I start in two weeks and Ill be working in a medical facility that not only provides for community health care for a diverse population, but includes several hundred transgender people among its patients.
I can’t begin to say how ecstatic I am…on so many levels! This is the first job where I was hired as myself and totally accepted for who I am. It’s liberating and affirming beyond description!
As far as I know, I am the only trans person to be a member of the team Ill be working with and we are all women!
Nothing is easy and while we in the trans community have made progress in achieving acceptance and parity with CIS people, we still have a long way to go.
What I’m saying is… Never lose faith and never give up. If you believe in yourself, other’s will believe in you as well.
